Capital Program Cost Controls At Los Angeles Department Of Water & Power

Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP), one of the largest U.S. municipal utilities, needed better control and visibility across its $6.5 billion, 10-year water capital program covering more than 200 projects. Its aging Capital Improvement Program Management System was creating lengthy monthly data reconciliation, inconsistent reporting, difficult quality checks, and time-consuming manual report generation. LADWP turned to Hexagon PPM and its EcoSys™ software to address these cost accountability and reporting challenges.

Hexagon PPM implemented EcoSys as the central integration, reporting, and analysis hub between Primavera P6, the mainframe budget system, and the legacy general ledger. The solution standardized project structures, automated data sharing, improved dashboards and performance metrics, and streamlined quarterly and monthly reporting. As a result, LADWP reduced monthly processing time from days to minutes, cut data errors, improved visibility into project performance, and gained faster response capabilities for management and audit requests.
