Case Study: ENEX achieves faster, higher-quality power plant design with Hexagon PPM

Benefits and challenges of implementing SmartPlant® Enterprise solutions by thermal power engineering company

ENEX, a Russian engineering company specializing in thermal power plant design, needed better interoperability, consistency, and efficiency across its design process for major power projects. Working with Hexagon PPM, ENEX used Smart P&ID, Smart Instrumentation, Smart Electrical, SmartPlant Foundation, and Smart 3D to support the design of units such as the Novocherkasskaya hydroelectric power station and Rosneft’s Achinsk refinery projects.

Hexagon PPM implemented an integrated SmartPlant Enterprise environment that combined 2D and 3D modeling with centralized data management and change tracking across disciplines. The solution helped ENEX improve design quality, reduce design time, and strengthen technical and business outcomes; in one phase, Smart P&ID was fully configured in six months and was able to handle about 95% of the required P&ID and specification work.
