The Zebra, an auto insurance comparison site, needed a more consistent way to evaluate A/B tests. Product managers had varying statistical backgrounds, test durations differed, traffic splits were sometimes uneven, and it was difficult to investigate anomalies in results. To address this, The Zebra used Hex alongside Eppo for experimentation and analytics.
Hex helped The Zebra’s data team explore web traffic data in SQL and Python to identify funnel drop-offs and other opportunities for experimentation, while Eppo handled statistically significant test setup, evaluation, and segmentation on the warehouse. Together, Hex and Eppo reduced manual effort by 50%, nearly eliminated false positives in A/B testing, and improved trust in analytics by enabling faster, deeper analysis of test results.
