Notion’s data team needed to keep insights accessible as the company grew rapidly, especially after launching AI features and expanding across more teams and product areas. With more stakeholders asking more complex questions, the team was spending too much time on table hunts, documentation, and ad hoc requests. Hex helped Notion make data easier to access for both technical and non-technical users, using its Notebook Agent and broader data workspace.

Hex implemented the Notebook Agent, Snowpark-based analytics, and data apps to let Notion’s teams explore data, build analyses, and share insights without constant help from the data team. The results included faster customer analysis, hours saved on manual prep work, and broader self-service adoption: 86% of recent Notebook Agent users were non-data scientists, and the agent was used close to 6,500 times in six months. Hex also helped Notion maintain security and governance while scaling proactive, AI-assisted workflows.
