Modern Treasury, a product-led payments and financial data company founded in 2018, needed a better way to answer the many questions coming from product and engineering. Their small data team was stuck handling one-off SQL requests and ad hoc reporting instead of focusing on strategic analysis, and the lack of shared definitions and easy-to-use dashboards made self-service exploration difficult. They turned to Hex to improve their analytics workflow.

With Hex, Modern Treasury created standard definitions, starting points for exploration, and basic dashboards that product and engineering teams could use on their own. Hex’s notebook-style interface, support for both SQL and Python, and inline visualizations made it easy to explore, analyze, and share up-to-date results. As a result, engineers began self-serving their own investigations, the data team was freed to focus on longer-term strategic work, and the company gained faster, more informed decision-making across the business.
