Yorkshire Building Society Raises Efficiency with Hosted Desktops

Yorkshire Building Society faced a costly, decentralized “PC Jenga” hosted-desktop setup that consumed space, power and operational effort while supporting hot-desking and growth across two head offices. To simplify deployment and support for its HQ staff, the society engaged Hewlett Packard Enterprise and adopted HPE Moonshot for Hosted Desktops (HPE ProLiant m700 servers in HPE Moonshot 1500 Chassis) integrated with Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager and Windows 7.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise implemented four HPE Moonshot 1500 chassis (supporting up to 720 hosted desktops), provided HPE Technology Services Consulting and Foundation Care, and integrated the platform with ConfigMgr. The solution cut power per desktop from ~50W to 12.5W, reduced the infrastructure footprint by more than 50%, is forecast to save £111,000 in IT and power costs over five years, freed data-center and office space, and delivered more predictable performance and streamlined desktop management.
