A Hewlett Packard Enterprise Case Study
Wolseley Group, the UK-based global trade distributor of plumbing, heating and building materials, needed to reduce business interruptions across 321 supported systems (customer-facing ecommerce, communications and HR) and fix inaccuracies from a manually maintained CMDB. To meet a target of reducing outages and major incidents by 30%, Wolseley engaged Hewlett Packard Enterprise and its HP software portfolio (HP Universal Discovery, UCMDB, HP Business Service Management, HP Service Manager, HP Diagnostics, Release Control and Network Automation).
Hewlett Packard Enterprise implemented HP UD to feed HP UCMDB and integrated that discovered configuration-item and service-model data into HP BSM and HP Service Manager (with HP Diagnostics and Release Control), supported by HP Software Professional Services. The solution moved Wolseley from event-based monitoring to a service-oriented approach with topology-based event correlation and automated risk/impact analysis, enabling faster root-cause analysis, reduced MTTR, a targeted 30% drop in incidents and projected seven-figure annual savings.
