A Hewlett Packard Enterprise Case Study
W.B. Mason, the largest privately owned office-products dealer in the U.S., depends on a mission‑critical Microsoft SQL Server and Dynamics AX ERP to manage orders, inventory and shipping for its 750 trucks. As the company grew 10–12% annually, its existing blade infrastructure repeatedly hit CPU utilization around 95%, forcing frequent, labor‑intensive server purchases and risking capacity shortfalls during peak periods. To solve this, W.B. Mason engaged Hewlett Packard Enterprise and selected HPE Superdome X, HPE 3PAR StoreServ Storage and HPE Proactive Care Advanced Service to modernize its SQL Server environment.
Hewlett Packard Enterprise deployed Superdome X (four BL920s in clustered nPars) with all‑flash HPE 3PAR storage and Proactive Care support to provide electronic isolation, high availability and simple scale‑up. The results: optimal CPU utilization to support growth, inventory recalculation shortened from 24–36 hours to under 8 hours, 30,000–40,000 batch requests per second to storage, six‑nines data availability, and the ability to double the business on existing infrastructure—significantly improving order fulfillment and workplace productivity.
