Tropical Islands Increases Business Process Availability

Tropical Islands, Europe’s largest tropical holiday resort, needed a 24x7, highly available and easily managed storage infrastructure to support guest services (chip-based access/payments), Oracle Hospitality, SAP, VMware and growing media and guest data (about 45 TB). After their HPE EVA 4400 systems hit capacity, they chose Hewlett Packard Enterprise and the HPE 3PAR StoreServ platform to provide a future‑proof, end‑to‑end storage solution.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise delivered two HPE 3PAR StoreServ 7400 two‑node arrays plus HPE SN SB6000B 16 Gbit/s Fibre Channel switches (four switches), increasing SAN capacity to two instances of 70 TB and providing transparent failover, simpler management and 24x7 availability. With migration and around‑the‑clock support from arxes‑tolina GmbH, Tropical Islands now has a stable, scalable SAN that supports further growth (plans for pay TV and business customer storage), seamless daily operations and measurable capacity and performance headroom beyond its prior systems.
