Case Study: Pittsburgh Pirates achieves scalable HD video storage and 96% faster desktop deployments with Hewlett Packard Enterprise

A Hewlett Packard Enterprise Case Study

Preview of the Pittsburgh Pirates Case Study

The Pittsburgh Pirates Infrastructure Innovations, Playing Field Benefits

The Pittsburgh Pirates, a Major League Baseball team, needed to modernize IT to handle rapidly growing high‑definition video files and to centralize desktop delivery across its stadium and training facilities. To address scalable storage and virtual desktop requirements they engaged Hewlett Packard Enterprise (working with HPE Platinum Partner All Lines Technology) and evaluated HPE solutions including HPE 3PAR StoreServ, HPE BladeSystem and HPE OneView.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s 3PAR StoreServ 7400, BladeSystem servers/enclosures and HPE OneView were implemented to create a scale‑out storage architecture and a centralized virtual desktop infrastructure. The HPE solution let the Pirates accommodate about 40% more video content per season without forklift upgrades, achieve 96% faster endpoint configuration, reduce management tools by 50%, and cut total cost of ownership by roughly 35%, while simplifying administration and improving HD/4K video workflows.
