Sophia Conseil Opts For Virtualised Server Storage

Sophia Conseil, a research & development and engineering services firm, needed to modernise an aging central storage array to handle large CAD files and growing data needs at minimum cost. After an annual review and consultation with partner Compufirst, the company selected Hewlett Packard Enterprise and its HPE StoreVirtual VSA (deployed on an HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen8) to replace the dedicated array while keeping administration familiar.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise implemented HPE StoreVirtual VSA as a virtualised storage array (12 TB on an HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen8 in a VMware environment, on a 10 Gbit/s core network), enabling live Storage vMotion migration, modular scaling by adding servers, and simpler failover/replacement from stock. The result was faster data access, reduced hardware and administrative costs, seamless live migrations with the legacy array, improved scalability to handle load increases, and a clearer path to business continuity planning.
