Slovenian Payment Processor Ensures PCI Compliance with HPE ESKM and HPE NonStop

Bankart, a Slovenian payment processor handling 25 million transactions per month for 25 financial institutions across Eastern Europe, needed to meet strict PCI DSS and regional regulatory requirements to protect PII/PAN on both production and backup systems. To address this, Bankart chose Hewlett Packard Enterprise and deployed HPE NonStop servers with volume-level encryption together with HPE Enterprise Secure Key Manager (ESKM) for centralized, FIPS‑140‑2 Level 2 validated key management.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise implemented ESKM appliances integrated with NonStop VLE to automatically generate and manage 88 disk encryption keys, regenerate six backup keys daily, and automate daily key backups (replacing a monthly manual process). The HPE solution ensured PCI compliance for 25 million monthly transactions, streamlined audits with digitally signed logs and policy-based controls, reduced operational risk and costs, and provided secure, highly available payment authorizations across Bankart’s customer network.
