SK Planet Overhauls Storage to Cope With Dramatic Growth

SK Planet, a leading Korean mobile and online service provider and subsidiary of SK Telecom, faced dramatic growth and aging, end-of-support storage spread across multiple data centers. To improve performance and lower total cost of ownership (TCO), SK Planet chose Hewlett Packard Enterprise and its HPE 3PAR StoreServ Storage system (with HPE SAN switches and HPE Technology Services) to overhaul its storage architecture.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise deployed HPE 3PAR StoreServ Storage and dedicated engineers to replace a two-tier high-end/mid-range SAN with a single mid-range architecture. The HPE solution standardized functionality, resolved performance imbalances, enabled rapid scale-up/scale-out through virtualization, and reduced TCO—including lower data center energy costs—while minimizing downtime during migration and providing transparent, predictable storage management for future growth.
