Shanghai SingingRain Animation perfects lifelike animation with breakthrough Nano Core

Shanghai SingingRain Animation, a Chinese 3D studio behind the sci‑fi series Nano Core, needed to balance high visual quality with soaring rendering costs and slow production turnaround. To avoid outsourcing and build an efficient in‑house rendering farm, the studio partnered with Hewlett Packard Enterprise and adopted the HPE Moonshot System (including HPE ProLiant m710 Servers and an HPE Moonshot 1500 Chassis) to address compute density, energy use, and management complexity.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise implemented a high‑density HPE Moonshot rendering farm with unified management and high‑speed networking, enabling parallel compute at a fraction of the space and power of traditional racks. The result: a 25% improvement in compute performance, roughly a tenfold reduction in power consumption, a 10× increase in rendering output, support for 70 vs. 50 concurrent team members, and much faster episode turnaround (e.g., three episodes went from one year to five months), driving higher user retention and average episode CTRs of about 20 million.
