A Hewlett Packard Enterprise Case Study
Schule Bremgarten, a Swiss comprehensive school with about 1,100 pupils across multiple buildings, faced a fragmented, aging PC-based IT environment that left classrooms isolated, unable to communicate over a central network and without secure Internet access. To modernize and centralize its infrastructure, the school selected Hewlett Packard Enterprise solutions, notably the HPE ConvergedSystem 100 for Hosted Desktops, to replace disparate systems and meet requirements for scalability, security and central management.
Working with Steffen Informatik, Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s HPE ConvergedSystem 100 for Hosted Desktops was deployed as a Citrix-hosted desktop infrastructure, linked buildings via optical fiber and connected thin clients, laptops and printers—totaling 370 workstations. The HPE solution delivered a scalable, high-performance central server platform with secure Internet access, simplified administration and fast software rollouts, while cutting power and space needs (up to 89% less power and up to 80% less space versus conventional setups; thin clients use ~10W vs ~70W for PCs), and enabling future expansion and remote teacher access.
