A Hewlett Packard Enterprise Case Study
Rabobank Nederland, a large Dutch cooperative bank with millions of customers and thousands of employees, needed to refresh and simplify the access-layer networks across 600 branch locations while keeping its existing Cisco MPLS core, minimizing downtime, and cutting total cost of ownership. To meet these goals Rabobank engaged Hewlett Packard Enterprise Technology Services Consulting to deliver an open‑standards HPE Networking solution (including HPE 5800/5120/5500/5920 switch series and an HPE “branch‑in‑a‑box” design).
Hewlett Packard Enterprise implemented an interoperable HPE access-layer buildout, conducting stress testing and a staged rollout that replaced access at all 600 branches in six months (about four offices per evening) with minimal impact and 100% interoperability with the Cisco core. The deployment halved Rabobank’s TCO (>50% reduction), lowered power consumption and carbon footprint, delivered more bandwidth and security at the branch level, simplified central management, and prepared the bank for branch virtualization.
