A Hewlett Packard Enterprise Case Study
Qihoo 360, China’s largest Internet security company, serves about 500 million monthly active PC users and more than 640 million mobile users and processes over 70 billion user queries per day. Facing rapid growth and the need to improve price/performance while containing IT and energy costs, Qihoo 360 — which has relied on HPE servers since 2005 — turned to Hewlett Packard Enterprise solutions such as HPE Cloudline systems and HPE ProLiant DL160, DL380 and SL4500 servers.
Hewlett Packard Enterprise deployed HPE Cloudline and ProLiant platforms tailored for service-provider scale, enabling faster system deployment, simplified management, higher energy efficiency and lower storage cost per terabyte (SL4500 supports up to 60 drives). The move positioned Qihoo 360 to expand from about 80,000 toward 100,000 servers, while HPE Cloudline’s design can cut capital expenditures by up to 20% and support service delivery more than 48% faster, reducing energy and maintenance costs and helping maintain 24x7 service availability.
