A Hewlett Packard Enterprise Case Study
Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG), a diversified energy company headquartered in Newark, N.J., sought to improve how it delivers applications—achieving consistent on-time, within-budget, high-quality project outcomes and implementing Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) process improvements. To meet these goals PSEG engaged Hewlett Packard Enterprise to deploy HP Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) and HP ALM QC, supported by HP Software Professional Services.
Hewlett Packard Enterprise, with partner TATA Consultancy Services, implemented HP PPM enhancements (streamlined workflows, automated surveys, funding‑release generation, consolidated reporting and a one‑stop dashboard) and ALM processes to standardize delivery. The result was dramatic: complex projects were 100% within budget versus 83% in 2012, 94% on schedule versus 67% in 2012, and only 0.84 post‑implementation defects per $1M spent versus 5.89 in 2012, while project managers experienced simplified work and fewer last‑minute IT efforts.
