Otto Netherlands Makes a Successful Transition to e commerce

Otto Netherlands, the Dutch subsidiary of the Otto Group, moved from traditional mail‑order catalogs to a full e‑commerce model and needed to replace ageing office automation systems to support rapid business growth and a projected doubling or tripling of traffic. After testing vendor solutions, Otto Netherlands selected Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s HPE ConvergedSystem (deployed as HPE ConvergedSystem One and later known as HPE ConvergedSystem 700) for an integrated, easy‑to‑manage, scalable platform.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise delivered an HPE ConvergedSystem 700 including HPE 3PAR StoreServ storage (40×450GB), nine HPE ProLiant BL460c Gen8 blades, HPE Virtual Connect FlexFabric, HPE StorageWorks backup and HPE Insight Control management, backed by HPE implementation and support services. The deployment cut cabling and switch complexity (down to two high‑end HPE switches), simplified management with a single pane of glass, handled Otto’s big‑data needs and easy capacity expansion for anticipated traffic growth, and helped Otto Netherlands become the fourth largest e‑commerce retailer in the Netherlands while supporting its 300 local staff.
