Orpic (Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries Company), one of Oman’s largest refining and petrochemicals firms with four plants across Muscat and Sohar, faced a fragmented, end‑of‑life networking estate after integrating multiple companies. Needing to modernize and standardize infrastructure, move from a 1Gb to a 10Gb backbone, and eliminate single points of failure to prevent downtime that can cost up to $1 million per day, Orpic selected Hewlett Packard Enterprise and deployed HPE switching and management solutions.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise implemented a converged HPE solution—core and edge switches (HPE 12508/5830/5820/3500 and Aruba 5400/3800/2920), HPE Intelligent Management Center, HPE Intelligent Resilient Framework, HPE ProLiant/3PAR hardware and Proactive/Foundation Care—to standardize operations, enable 10G connectivity, and provide robust failover and disaster recovery across two core data centers. The solution eliminated single points of failure, simplified administration and wiring, reduced network overhead, improved uptime and manageability, and mitigated the risk of costly outages while supporting Orpic’s planned growth.
