A Hewlett Packard Enterprise Case Study
North Lindsey College, a UK further-education provider handling about 20TB of critical data for 4,790 students and 500 staff, was constrained by aging, hard-to-manage storage that caused downtime and was running out of capacity. Seeking a faster, easier-to-manage, scalable replacement, the college chose Hewlett Packard Enterprise and its HPE Hyper Converged systems (ConvergedSystem 242‑HC with StoreVirtual and additional HPE StoreVirtual expansion) via an educational procurement framework.
Hewlett Packard Enterprise deployed two mirrored HPE Hyper Converged appliances (one per data center) plus HPE StoreVirtual and a three-year HPE Proactive Care support contract, doubling storage to 40TB, cutting nightly backup times from seven hours to two, and increasing availability from 98.5% to 99.9%. The HPE solution simplified management, eliminated unplanned downtime, freed IT staff for higher‑value work, and provided scalable, resilient storage for students and staff.
