Moving Legacy Applications to an HPE Helion Hybrid Cloud

Trustpower, a New Zealand-based multi-utility provider serving over 260,000 customers, faced a fractured, siloed IT estate of inflexible legacy applications as it prepared to relocate its headquarters and avoid new data‑centre build costs. To transform legacy systems into cloud-ready workloads and adopt a hybrid cloud model, Trustpower engaged Hewlett Packard Enterprise and its HPE Helion hybrid cloud offering to assess and plan the migration.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise reviewed more than 350 applications, identified 176 for cloud migration, and deployed HPE Helion CloudSystem Enterprise along with HPE infrastructure and services (and Microsoft Azure for public cloud needs) to implement a mix of private, collocated and public environments. The HPE-led program reduced capital and operational costs, lowered physical IT assets, freed IT resources to focus on innovation, improved service continuity and accelerated time-to-market, enabling Trustpower to scale more quickly and deliver better customer experiences.
