A Hewlett Packard Enterprise Case Study
Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office needed to centralize and expand aging storage to support a new data‑intensive computer‑aided 911 dispatch system, a VMware virtualization rollout and planned virtual desktop infrastructure. Facing 12–14TB of data, siloed servers and tape-heavy backups, the Sheriff’s Office turned to Hewlett Packard Enterprise and its solutions including HPE 3PAR StoreServ, HPE StoreOnce, HPE Client Virtualization and HPE Data Protector.
Hewlett Packard Enterprise deployed two mirrored HPE 3PAR StoreServ arrays, StoreOnce backup with an MSL4048 tape library, HPE Client Virtualization and Data Protector, plus design, implementation, training and five‑year support. The result was centralized, highly available storage that cut restore times from days to 1–2 hours, delivered an initial 135:1 deduplication ratio, saved about $3,000/month in maintenance, reclaimed up to 18 hours/week for LAN admins on tape swaps, halved desktop hardware costs with VDI and reduced hardware deployment from days to hours—greatly improving availability for 911.
