A Hewlett Packard Enterprise Case Study
Lucas Oil, a rapidly growing automotive and motorsports company, faced an aging single-application-per-server environment that created frequent downtime risk and strained its two-person IT team. After costly quotes from their previous supplier, Lucas Oil engaged Hewlett Packard Enterprise (with partner PCM) to explore virtualization and infrastructure refresh options, evaluating HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen9 servers and HPE MSA 2040 SAN among other HPE products and services.
Hewlett Packard Enterprise implemented a right-sized virtualized solution—HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen9 servers, HPE MSA 2040 SAN, HPE 5412r ZL2 networking, HPE ProDesk/Elite endpoints and HPE Proactive Care—deployed as a three-node, highly available architecture. The HPE solution delivered a 7:1 virtualization ratio, eliminated single points of failure, enabled decommissioning of legacy servers, cut TCO by about 50% versus competitors, sped server/service provisioning by 10x, and reduced power and cooling, boosting uptime and freeing IT to focus on strategic work.
