A Hewlett Packard Enterprise Case Study
Lohmann & Rauscher (L&R), a global medical‑products supplier, needed to ensure business continuity after a review showed its two‑room Neuwied data‑centre concept could not survive site‑wide disasters and put core systems (including SAP ERP) at risk. To modernise and virtualise its environment and meet board and auditor requirements, L&R selected Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), deploying an HPE Converged Infrastructure and HPE 3PAR StoreServ storage as part of the solution.
Hewlett Packard Enterprise, with partner Hansen & Gieraths, consolidated L&R’s storage onto three HPE 3PAR StoreServ 7200 arrays, replaced server hardware with HPE BladeSystem/ProLiant blades and virtualised about 95% of servers, enabling synchronous mirroring between the two Neuwied sites and asynchronous replication to a third emergency data centre. The HPE Converged Infrastructure simplified administration, improved redundancy and security, met auditors’ requirements, and ensures key business services can be reinstated within 24 hours after a complete site failure.
