A Hewlett Packard Enterprise Case Study
Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU), a modern civic university with over 21,000 students and more than 300 undergraduate programmes, was straining under five‑year‑old SANs at its two main data centres as growing application and Oracle storage demands degraded performance. To move from a reactive support model and improve scalability and performance, LJMU engaged Hewlett Packard Enterprise, deploying HPE 3PAR StoreServ storage and subscribing to HPE Proactive Care Advanced Service.
Hewlett Packard Enterprise, working with partner DTP, replaced legacy arrays with HPE 3PAR 7400/7440 platforms, enabled 24x7 remote monitoring, replication and automated failover, and delivered a 5‑year HPE Proactive Care Advanced Service with an assigned account support manager. As a result LJMU optimized storage utilization, maintained peak performance (for example dynamically promoting systems to the SSD tier during exam periods), avoided additional hardware purchases to meet peak demand, and gained proactive alerts, healthchecks and expert recommendations that improved reliability and reduced reactive firefighting.
