A Hewlett Packard Enterprise Case Study
Lancope, a network security and analytics firm, was struggling to support rapidly growing flow-data volumes as it began selling to larger enterprise customers. After years on Postgres the company faced scaling limits and slow or failing queries. To solve this, Lancope turned to Hewlett Packard Enterprise and its HP Vertica analytics platform to meet its Big Data performance needs.
Hewlett Packard Enterprise implemented HP Vertica as the scalable analytics store for Lancope’s StealthWatch System, replacing Postgres and enabling appliance deployment in a small footprint (~4 TB). As a result Lancope’s FlowCollector can capture up to 120,000 flows per second and the StealthWatch System can process three million flows per second, with minimal ongoing maintenance. The HP Vertica solution let Lancope analyze and store billions (and moving toward hundreds of billions) of rows, serve larger enterprise customers, and accelerate detection and response.
