A Hewlett Packard Enterprise Case Study
LADBS (Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety) needed a way to support heavy permitting and inspection workloads across a headquarters plus 11 remote offices that have minimal data‑closet space and poor cooling. Working with long‑time partner Hewlett Packard Enterprise, LADBS evaluated hyper‑converged options and selected the HPE ConvergedSystem 242‑HC StoreVirtual appliance (with HPE OneView for VMware vCenter and HPE Proactive Care Advanced) to address overheating outages, reduce travel and maintenance overhead, and deliver reliable, full‑function application access across the city.
Hewlett Packard Enterprise deployed HPE ConvergedSystem 242‑HC StoreVirtual appliances in remote sites, shrinking server footprints to 2U, enabling remote management, built‑in replication for disaster recovery, and faster provisioning. The results: eliminated overheating outages and delivered complete business continuity (no travel for maintenance and 100% uptime in the months after deployment), an estimated $240,000 annual savings at the Van Nuys office alone, a 50% reduction in maintenance time saving about $2,200 per month, and roughly a 30% performance boost even on 1Gb links—improving service delivery citywide.
