Hutchison Drei Austria GmbH, Austria’s fast-growing mobile operator, nearly doubled its subscriber base to more than 3.4 million overnight after merging with Orange Austria and needed to present a single face to customers while ensuring absolute availability of critical Home Location Register/Home Subscriber Server functions. Hewlett Packard Enterprise provided the HPE Integrity NonStop BladeSystem NB54000c‑cg running HPE Integrated Home Subscriber Server (I‑HSS) to meet these high-availability and integration challenges.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise deployed redundant NonStop systems and HPE I‑HSS as a real-time front-end database and development platform, enabling seamless network merger, geo‑redundancy and open development for custom services. The solution delivered six‑nines uptime (99.9999%) for I‑HSS, consolidated Mobile Number Portability (eliminating two racks of servers), reduced power/cooling needs, and ensured continuous service for the unified 3.4M+ subscriber base.
