A Hewlett Packard Enterprise Case Study
Cardlytics, an Atlanta-based purchase-intelligence company that delivers targeted rewards through banking channels, faced rapidly growing data volumes and sluggish query performance from its legacy RDBMS. To gain scalable, high-performance analytics, Cardlytics selected the HPE Vertica Analytics Platform from Hewlett Packard Enterprise after a proof-of-concept evaluation that met its need for commodity hardware and predictable scale-out costs.
Hewlett Packard Enterprise deployed HPE Vertica on HPE ProLiant DL380 servers (Red Hat Linux) and scaled Cardlytics from a 4-node/10TB setup to a 30-node/250TB cluster. The HPE Vertica solution enabled a 10x weekly data ingest increase (200M → +2B records), 40–80x faster queries (typical returns reduced to 0.5–1 minute), ~90% reduction in operational support, a 10x larger advertiser pipeline (20 → 200 prospects/week), same‑day responses, and payback in about three months, driving higher ad inventory and revenue.
