A Hewlett Packard Enterprise Case Study
Interconnector, an international pipeline operator that runs a 235 km bi-directional sub-sea gas pipeline between the UK and continental Europe, needed robust business IT to handle complex, hour-by-hour operational and commercial transactions for shippers. From its founding the company selected Hewlett Packard Enterprise as its strategic IT outsourcing partner to deliver applications development and management, data-center hosting, and managed workplace services so Interconnector could avoid building in‑house IT capability and stay focused on its core business.
Hewlett Packard Enterprise developed and now manages the Interconnector Shippers Information System (ISIS) on Oracle, runs mirrored data centers in the UK and Belgium on HPE ProLiant servers, EVA storage and VMware virtualization, and provides enterprise security, networking and Office 365 workplace services. The HPE solution gives near real‑time monitoring and rule-driven capacity management—enabling operators to make flow‑rate and direction decisions less than two hours before gas molecules flow—while delivering high availability, scalability, predictable costs and business continuity; Interconnector has renewed its outsourcing contract as a result.
