Vodacom Group, a leading African mobile telecommunications company serving over 57.5 million customers, faced escalating and evolving fraud threats — from identity theft and SIM/phone theft to organized abuse — that manual processes could no longer contain. To reduce exposure and secure growth, Vodacom Group partnered with Hewlett Packard Enterprise to implement HPE CentralView Fraud Risk Management.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise deployed HPE CentralView FRM to automate behavioral analysis and real-time controls, boosting call-data processing (operating around 400 million CDRs/day with capacity to 900 million), enabling automatic SIM locks, and accelerating detection. The solution delivered measurable impact: content abuse on post-paid accounts fell by 80%, two-day prepaid fraud losses dropped from 1 million ZAR to under 5,000 ZAR, subscription-fraud detection times shortened from 30–90 days to under 14 days, about 6 million ZAR in upgrade costs were avoided, and Vodacom scaled its fraud team with only two additional hires.
