A Hewlett Packard Enterprise Case Study
Eurobank Serbia, a leading financial services firm, faced unreliable, slow backups and limited multi‑site replication for critical customer data and databases. To address this, they selected Hewlett Packard Enterprise and deployed HPE StoreOnce disk backup systems alongside HPE Data Protector 8.1 to replace a tape‑only approach and meet requirements for greater reliability, performance and multi‑site protection.
Hewlett Packard Enterprise implemented a converged backup and archiving solution—multiple HPE StoreOnce systems, HPE Data Protector software, HPE EVA arrays, tape libraries and ProLiant backup servers—plus planned 10GB links and Catalyst replication. The result: backup of a 3.5TB Oracle database dropped from 9–12 hours to about 3 hours (4× faster), restores are twice as fast, and deduplication reduces data written to disk by roughly 12× (nearly 200TB logical reduced to 16.5TB on disk), enabling daily backups, lower storage costs and improved multi‑site availability.
