Employee Training Ensures a Successful Migration for the Max Planck Society

The Max Planck Society, comprising 80 institutes and about 1,600 administrative employees, faced a large-scale migration to Microsoft Windows 7 and Office 2010 and needed to avoid disruption to day-to-day work and spikes in support requests. To support the PC upgrade and ensure users could adopt the new interfaces and features, the society contracted Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), using HPE Education Services, to provide comprehensive end-user training.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise ran 160 full-day Delta and key-user courses across Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and Italy (training 1,600 staff over five months), supplying trainers, tailored materials, temporary classrooms and post-migration floor-walkers. The HPE-led program delivered a smooth roll-out, increased employee confidence and satisfaction, reduced pressure on institute IT teams, and kept help-desk issues to a manageable level compared with previous projects that lacked training.
