Datang Improves Real Time Access to Production Data

Datang Huayin Electric Power Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Datang Corporation in the energy sector, was facing slow Oracle E-Business Suite performance and growing database management burdens as production, finance and management data expanded. To address this, Datang Huayin evaluated archiving solutions and selected Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s HPE Structured Data Manager (SDM) to improve scalability and database responsiveness.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise implemented a single-instance live archiving solution using HPE SDM on an HPE Integrity Superdome 2, migrating inactive data into separate table spaces without adding database servers. The deployment reduced the overall size of the Oracle EBS production database, accelerated end-user access and reporting, lowered storage and maintenance costs, and eliminated frequent hardware upgrades — a configuration Datang recommends as the standard across its subsidiary platforms and expects to keep databases at optimal size for the next five to 10 years.
