A Hewlett Packard Enterprise Case Study
Continental, the global automotive and tyre manufacturer, needed to develop a service-oriented IT across its two-tier, worldwide IT organization to improve collaboration, standardize processes and gain transparency into infrastructure and service dependencies. To achieve this, Continental engaged Hewlett Packard Enterprise, building on its existing HPE Service Manager and HPE Asset Manager, and selected HPE Universal CMDB as the core of a global configuration management initiative.
Hewlett Packard Enterprise (with partner Materna and an internal Continental manager) implemented HPE Universal CMDB, prototyped on three critical applications (messaging, CEOS and core) and completed the global rollout in mid‑2013. The solution created a single, federated source of reliable configuration data, automated service modelling, improved change and risk impact assessments and strengthened incident/change management—boosting IT transparency, enabling service orientation and better collaboration with outsourcers.
