Clayton Utz achieves information security and data protection goals

Clayton UTZ, a leading Australian law firm with 1,450 professionals across six offices, was facing an end-of-life SAN, rapidly exploding data volumes and strict client and regulatory demands for information security and data protection (including hardware‑encrypted storage). After evaluating the market with partners Lynx and Vintage, Clayton UTZ selected Hewlett Packard Enterprise solutions—HPE 3PAR StoreServ, HPE StoreVirtual and HPE StoreOnce—to address capacity, recovery and administrative challenges.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise deployed HPE 3PAR StoreServ (7200/7400), StoreVirtual and StoreOnce to virtualize storage, enable global deduplication and centralize backup management. The solution eliminated tape, made backups online and more reliable, reduced physical storage needs and replication/restore rates, lowered administration overhead and costs, and strengthened the firm’s information‑security posture (supporting compliance such as ISO 27001:2013) while freeing IT staff from routine storage tasks.
