China Merchants Bank Combats Malicious Threats

China Merchants Bank, one of China’s largest commercial banks with nationwide operations and two major data centers, faced the challenge of sifting through millions of log events daily to detect fraud, data leakage and meet tightening regulatory requirements. To address this, the bank selected Hewlett Packard Enterprise and its HPE ArcSight Enterprise Security Management (ESM) and HPE ArcSight Logger solutions to centralize, store and analyze cross‑platform log data.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise implemented HPE ArcSight Logger for scalable log collection and HPE ArcSight ESM for real‑time correlation, built a Security Operations Center, and trained rapid‑response staff. The deployment enabled correlation and analysis of millions of events to surface highest‑risk alerts, reduced unexpected security incidents, established lifecycle incident management, and produced more than 30 parsers plus 600 abnormal‑behavior detection rules along with real‑time risk displays and automated compliance reporting.
