A Hewlett Packard Enterprise Case Study
Bolagsverket, the Swedish Companies Registration Office, faced an aging Unisys mainframe with shrinking skills availability, rising and unpredictable pay‑per‑transaction costs, and limited ability to innovate or run parallel development and test environments. To address these challenges it selected Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) — working with HPE Technology Services Consulting and its Mainframe Migration Center of Expertise — to move core COBOL applications off the mainframe onto an open HPE platform (including HPE ProLiant DL380 servers).
Hewlett Packard Enterprise implemented a phased migration to an HPE ProLiant/SUSE Linux environment with Micro Focus Visual COBOL and an Oracle database, delivering the move on time and within budget with zero unplanned downtime during and after cutover. The HPE solution produced rock‑solid stability, enabled parallel development and testing, removed per‑transaction cost uncertainty to reduce total cost of ownership, and supported new, more cost‑effective online services for entrepreneurs.
