Bilfinger increases the flexibility of its data centre with HPE Flexible Capacity and HPE storage

Bilfinger, a global engineering and services company, needed a highly available, flexibly scalable and cost‑effective storage platform to support IT centralisation and ongoing growth. To meet that challenge it chose Hewlett Packard Enterprise, deploying two HPE 3PAR StoreServ 7400 arrays purchased via the HPE Flexible Capacity service model.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise delivered the two HPE 3PAR StoreServ 7400 systems with HPE 3PAR Peer Persistence and Thin Provisioning under HPE Flexible Capacity (each system initially sized at 110 TB with a 25 TB buffer). The deployment provides automatic transparent failover, reduced monthly storage costs through thin provisioning, less operational overhead and dedicated 24/7 support; Bilfinger has already moved about 30% of its previously decentralised data onto the mirrored systems (targeting ~80%) and forecasts ~20% annual data growth while only paying for actual used capacity.
