A Hewlett Packard Enterprise Case Study
Bigstep is an IaaS innovator delivering the Full Metal Cloud, built to provide the highest-performance public cloud for big-data analytics. To meet this challenge—avoiding the performance penalties of virtualization while maintaining cloud agility—Bigstep partnered with Hewlett Packard Enterprise and based its offering on HPE Gen9 hardware (HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen9 and HPE Apollo 4200 Gen9 servers) and HPE Integrated Lights-Out (iLO4) management.
Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s Gen9 servers and iLO4 enabled Bigstep to implement a bare‑metal, hardware‑isolated cloud that removes the hypervisor, automates provisioning, and optimizes density for parallel processing. The result: up to 70% overall application performance improvement (with some Hadoop/NoSQL workloads seeing up to 500% gains versus virtualized clouds), 35% better energy efficiency, automated server provisioning and an 80% improvement in price/performance—boosting responsiveness and competitive advantage.
