A Hewlett Packard Enterprise Case Study
ARI (ARI-Armaturen), a global valve manufacturer with a complex, heterogeneous IT environment backing up around 24 TB of data, needed faster, automated and audit-proof backups after data growth began pushing Windows server backups into business hours and causing performance bottlenecks. The company had long relied on Hewlett Packard Enterprise solutions—notably HPE Data Protector and HPE StoreEver MSL tape libraries—but required a more modern approach to prevent impacts on end users and meet compliance requirements.
Working with HPE partner DTS Systeme and Hewlett Packard Enterprise, ARI implemented a hybrid disk-and-tape solution: HPE StoreOnce 4500 with StoreOnce Catalyst, two HPE StoreEver MSL4048 libraries, and an upgraded HPE Data Protector deployment. Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s integrated deduplication and faster drives cut Windows backup times by about 30%, removed performance bottlenecks, reduced IT workload through automation, improved restore times, and delivered stable, audit-proof backups with no negative impact on end-user systems.
