Aalborg Kommune Builds New Data Center with the Future in Mind

Aalborg Kommune, the Danish municipality supporting 14,000 users and thousands of devices across 800 locations, faced a cramped 15‑year‑old data centre that lacked space, bandwidth and flexibility to meet growing e‑administration and public service demands. To modernize quickly on a trusted platform, Aalborg Kommune worked with Hewlett Packard Enterprise, deploying HPE hardware and management software including Aruba 3800 Series and HPE 8212 Series switches plus HPE ProCurve Manager Plus and HPE Intelligent Management Center.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise delivered a scalable, resilient network—50 Aruba 3800 switches as top‑of‑rack, four HPE 8212 core switches and HPE edge devices—supporting three new data centres and 400+ applications. The HPE solution was deployed in six weeks, reduced switches to be monitored from 24 to 5, leveraged 450 km of fibre, and provided the flexibility, redundancy and simpler management that enabled Aalborg Kommune to expand e‑services, reduce administrative costs and meet future user demands.
