A Heroku Case Study
Anyone Home is a contact-center and CRM platform for the rental housing market that helps property managers handle leads, tours, leases, and maintenance requests. As usage grew, their original AWS architecture struggled: page loads depended on slow API calls, a custom SQL sync to Salesforce became a heavy operational burden (requiring 1.5 DBAs), and scheduler-based integration jobs were unreliable and hard to scale.
In 2015 they migrated the app to Heroku, using Heroku Connect with Postgres for real-time Salesforce syncing and Apache Kafka to automate and scale hundreds of external integrations. The move boosted performance, delivered real-time data flows, halved processing time for large batches, increased reliability, and dramatically reduced ops overhead—freeing the engineering team to accelerate product development and run about twenty third-party integrations plus their prospect-facing Access Scheduler.
