Heroku Extends Domain Provider’s Internal Infrastructure for Fast Deployment of Tools and Services

DNSimple is a developer-focused domain management company that simplifies DNS, SSL, and domain workflows to save engineers time. Running its own Anycast DNS network and core services on managed data-center infrastructure, the team needed a faster, lower-friction way to deploy tools and services so developers could focus on product rather than ops.

DNSimple adopted Heroku as a PaaS to rapidly deploy polyglot apps, use managed Heroku Postgres, and rely on buildpacks for easier builds and deploys. Key tools like Zone Vision and a webhook notification service were built and launched in days, accelerating time-to-market, reducing operational overhead, and enabling a Heroku-first approach that supports product expansion (API v2, Let’s Encrypt integration, DNS snippets) while the team explores managed Kafka for future event-driven features.
