AltSchool is a San Francisco–based education and technology startup reinventing K–8 learning with a personalized, child-centered model. To deliver individualized curricula and run admissions, classroom, communication and admin systems across its micro‑school network, the team needed a fast, flexible platform that would let them prototype, deploy and iterate quickly while scaling with the schools.

AltSchool built its entire app stack on Heroku—using Python, Node.js and Go plus Heroku Postgres, Redis, SendGrid, New Relic and other add‑ons—and connected Salesforce for admissions. The result: rapid prototyping and deployment of 14+ apps, reduced development friction, reliable operations for parent and teacher tools, and a scalable platform supporting growth across multiple schools while improving team productivity.
