A Heretto Case Study
The American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) faced the challenge of modernizing its authoritative, 1000-page Cancer Staging Manual, which was historically delivered as a physical book. Accessing specific information was time-consuming, and integrating this complex data into digital health information systems required a manual, error-prone process for developers. The AJCC partnered with Heretto to build a scalable content creation and delivery system to solve this.
Heretto provided a CCMS platform with robust metadata and tagging capabilities, allowing AJCC to structure its content in XML. This enabled the delivery of searchable, properly formatted information directly to health systems via standards-based APIs. The solution simplified authoring for over 400 contributors and gave clinicians instant, on-screen access to staging data. As a result, the AJCC manual can now interface directly with Health Information Systems, making critical cancer staging information more accessible and updatable for clinical and research use.
