HERE and leading Swiss retailer Migros offer CO₂ Insights for shippers and fleet operators

The customer, leading Swiss retailer Migros, sought to significantly reduce the carbon dioxide emissions from its commercial truck fleet to meet its sustainability goals. For this challenge, Migros partnered with the vendor, HERE Technologies, utilizing its HERE Routing API and HERE Map Attributes API to develop a solution for analyzing and minimizing route-based emissions.

HERE Technologies implemented CO₂ Insights, an analytical tool that predicts the amount of CO₂ produced for any given route by considering factors like vehicle type, traffic, and road topography. The solution allows fleet operators to identify the least polluting vehicle and fuel combination for each journey. As a result, Migros is using this tool to drive its transition to alternative fuels and support its goal of reducing road transport emissions by 70% by 2030.
