BMW 7 Series enables hands-free driving with HERE HD Live Map

BMW faced the challenge of advancing its autonomous vehicle development from Level 2 to Level 3 automation. The company needed access to highly precise, up-to-date mapping data capable of providing centimeter-level accuracy in real-time to further develop its self-driving vehicles.

HERE Technologies provided its HERE HD Live Map to enhance BMW's autonomous driving technology. The solution powers the Highway Assistant function, enabling hands-free driving on highways and allowing the navigation system to display where the function can be activated safely. As a result, BMW launched its first production vehicle with SAE Level 2+ functionality, brought a highly automated solution closer to market, and uses HERE's services in 70 countries to help drivers stay safe with real-time road information.
