A Helmes Case Study
Grab2Go, an Estonian startup, faced the challenge of building a next-generation autonomous store platform without the time and resources to develop an in-house team. They needed a technology partner to handle the complex software development, which required seamless integration with hardware and had to meet specific regulatory requirements for their pilot with a pharmacy chain. Grab2Go partnered with the vendor Helmes to undertake this software development.
Helmes provided a full development team with IoT expertise to build the solution. They delivered a platform with modules for customer purchases, machine operation, and remote management, integrated with payment and video call systems. The successful result was the launch of Estonia's first autonomous pharmacy in 2023 for the chain Benu, which allows customers to purchase medicine with remote pharmacist consultation. This pioneering project by Helmes has demonstrated significant potential for expanding access to pharmaceuticals and other goods and has even prompted a regulatory review.
